How It Works
- Every image in the template library is checked against your members automatically, alongside your own PFP filters.
- New scam PFPs are regularly added by the Hashbot team and take effect on your server as soon as they’re published.
- Use the
/template pfpcommand to see how many template images are active out of the total available, with a link to the Hashbot Dashboard.
Managing Templates
Running/template pfp in Discord shows the active/total template count and a link to the Dashboard. To browse the full library of template images, visit the Templates page on dashboard.hashbot.com.
Known scam avatars: black and invisible profile pictures
The ticket-scam kit reuses the same blank profile pictures on account after account: a solid black square, or a fully transparent image that makes the avatar look empty. These pictures have no detail for image matching to work with, so Hashbot recognises them by their exact file instead, and bans an account wearing one when it joins or changes its avatar.- Only those exact files match. Other dark, plain or hand-made black pictures are never affected.
- Allowlisted members, staff and administrators are never affected.
- The switch is on for every subscribed server. If your community uses black or invisible avatars on purpose, turn it off from the card at the top of the PFP Templates tab on the Dashboard Templates page. The change applies immediately.
Best Practices
- Combine template protection with your own team avatars and logos — the template covers widely-abused scam images, while your uploads cover what’s unique to your community
- Run
/pfp-filters cleanseafter adding your own filters to catch existing threats
